Tech Day 2026 — Bigger. Louder. Back for More.
Two years in, and the plastics industry showed up like it never has before.
October 21 & 22, 2026. The Shibaura Machine Tech Centre in Markham didn't just open its doors — it came alive. Machines ran. Questions flew. Deals got discussed over coffee. And for two straight days, the GTA's injection molding community got a front-row seat to what's next for their industry.
Thank you to all who attended, supported, and contributed — this event keeps growing because this industry keeps showing up.
The Lineup: Eleven OEM Partners, One Floor
For year one, six partners joined us. This year? Nearly double. Each brought equipment you could touch, run, and interrogate — real machines, running live, with the experts who know them best standing right beside them.
- Shibaura Machine — all-electric machines, running live — also see machiNetCloud
- Sepro Group — servo robotics and automation in action
- Frigel Group — process cooling that pays for itself
- HB-Therm — temperature control from St. Gallen, Switzerland
- Kistler Group — measurement technology for serious process control
- Rapid Granulator — reduce scrap, recover value
- Motan Group — dry. dose. convey. deliver.
- Ampacet / LIAD Smart — masterbatch meets smart dosing
- Fast Heat by Spark Industries — hot runner control that keeps production moving
- ServoGate — gate control built for the modern press
- Easy Trading — Injection Depot's own export division, taking Canadian equipment worldwide
The Speakers: Where the Money Meets the Mold
This year's event added something new: two voices that had attendees taking notes.
Jose Costa, P.Eng., MBA — Senior Business Advisor, Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. Jose broke down the government programs and funding opportunities most manufacturers don't know exist — and how to actually access them. If you've ever delayed a capital investment because of cost, his session was the reason to reconsider.
Fadi Christopher Farr — Senior Energy Engineer, Enviro Energy FX. Fadi tackled the number on everyone's mind: the energy bill. His session on energy management for injection molding connected real, practical moves to the plant's cost per part — the kind of insights that survive the Monday morning after.
The People Behind It
None of it happens without the crew. Damian Butcher, our Used Equipment Sales Manager, keeping the used equipment side sharp. Guy Simoneau and Easton Schweihofer, our New Equipment Sales Representatives for Quebec and Windsor & area respectively, and Spaso holding down the floor.
And at the heart of it: the partners behind Injection Depot — Chris Butcher, Owner, and Caroline Butcher, Partner and Bilingual Sales Manager. Chris is the driving force behind the OEM relationships; Caroline — the only woman on the floor — kept two full days of machines, partners, speakers, and attendees moving in two languages, and signs the contracts that make it all real. From coordinating eleven OEM partners to making sure every guest left with an answer, Tech Day 2026 runs on her energy as much as its electricity.
